Nagaland: Samagra Shiksha organises science exposure at IASST

DIMAPUR

Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), organised a four-day exposure trip to the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati from December 13 to 16.
At IASST, a premier autonomous research institute of national importance, the students were introduced to advanced laboratories and research facilities. The visit provided them with first-hand experience of a professional scientific environment and motivated them to explore careers in science while understanding contemporary research methodologies.
The participants were sensitized to various scientific programmes, including BIONEST–IASST services, which support innovation and incubation of ideas before industry setup. They were encouraged to think innovatively and explore entrepreneurship opportunities in emerging fields such as bioenergy, diagnostics, nanoscience, food processing, biopesticides, and allied sectors.
Detailed demonstrations and discussions were also held on advanced instruments and research areas such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS), nanotechnology, plasma science, its technological applications, and ongoing advanced research initiatives at IASST.
A total of 39 science students from Government Higher Secondary Schools, accompanied by three teacher guides and officials from Samagra Shiksha, took part in the programme aimed at nurturing scientific curiosity and research-oriented thinking.
The exposure trip significantly enhanced the scientific awareness of the students, broadened their perspectives, and inspired them to think beyond textbooks.
The initiative reinforced the vision of Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan by fostering a spirit of inquiry, innovation, and aspiration towards scientific research and careers among school students.
