Nagaland: Sashimongla gets ‘DRE Woman of the Year’ award

DIMAPUR, FEB 14 (NPN)

Nagaland witnessed a proud moment as founder of A&D Solar Enterprise, Sashimongla Sangtam, was conferred the prestigious “DRE Woman of the Year” award at the recently concluded India Distributed Renewable Energy Summit (IDRES’26).
The summit was organised by CLEAN and supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Competing among distinguished professionals and entrepreneurs from across the country, Sangtam’s achievement highlighted both her personal dedication and Nagaland’s growing presence in the national clean energy sector. The recognition acknowledged her leadership in promoting decentralised renewable energy (DRE) solutions for livelihood generation among women, persons with disabilities (PwDs) and vulnerable communities in Nagaland.
Through initiatives such as solar dryers, off-grid power systems and clean energy support for micro-enterprises, A&D Solar Enterprise has enabled income generation, reduced energy costs and improved productivity for grassroots entrepreneurs. The enterprise integrates technology deployment with basic training and after-sales services, demonstrating how decentralised solar solutions can contribute to inclusive development and climate-resilient livelihoods in the Northeast.
The “DRE Woman of the Year” award recognises Sangtam’s vision and leadership in a sector that is playing a crucial role in India’s clean energy transition. Her accomplishment is expected to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women in the Northeast, to pursue innovation-driven enterprises with social impact.
The recognition marks a significant milestone for A&D Solar Enterprise and a moment of pride for Nagaland’s renewable energy community as it continues to contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.
