The Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Naharbari East Dimapur (SBANED) dedicated its new church building at Naharbari, Ward 11, on Saturday in a solemn ceremony attended by believers, Church leaders and dignitaries.
Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) Executive Secretary Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema formally dedicated the building by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon.
In his sermon, Rev. Dr. Sema described the church as “second heaven” — a place where believers, regardless of social or economic status, unite to worship God and prepare for His kingdom.
He expressed confidence that the new building would bring abundant blessings to the congregation and urged members to strengthen their faith and work for God’s glory.
On the occasion, ex-minister and former Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi also delivered a short message.
Earlier, delivering welcome address, Church construction committee convenor T. Phoishe Zhimomi said the building, completed in four years and nine months, cost approximately Rs.12 crore.
Proposing vote of thanks, SBANED pastor Yekuto Shohe expressed gratitude to churches and individuals for their support and contributions.
The programme was chaired by SBANED associate pastor youth Akato Aye, SBANED associate pastor women Hukatoli Sumi read the scripture, and the church choir presented a special number.
