The new premises of SBI Chedema Branch was inaugurated on January 14, 2026, at Keyake, P. Khel, Kohima village, with Dr. Dziesekhrielie Pienyü, vice chairman (Development), P. Khel Council, Kohima village, as guest of honour.
In his address, Dr. Pienyü said shifting the branch to its new location would help meet the banking needs of the growing population in the area and neighbouring villages, including Chedema and Rüsoma. He lauded the branch staff for their sincerity, dedication and courteous service, and expressed confidence that people from all walks of life would benefit from the facilities. He further assured the bank of full support from the P. Khel Council and the local community.
Assistant General Manager, RBO, Hubert Wungshim, highlighted that the nation’s economic progress is closely tied to banking. He expressed confidence that improved services would promote development and benefit society at large, while urging local residents to extend cooperation for shared growth and prosperity.
Speaking on behalf of the Keyake Welfare Board, chairman Kevingutso Rutsa assured full cooperation for the smooth functioning of the branch. He described the relationship between banks and customers as a mutual partnership and said the relocation would make the area economically viable and sustainable.
The programme began with an opening prayer and blessings pronounced by Rev. Fr. Paulus SDB, Asst. Parish Priest, Christ King Church, Kohima village. The guest of honour formally inaugurated the branch by cutting the ribbon.
