Nagaland scholars in Japan for Sakura Exchange

DIMAPUR

A team of researchers from Nagaland led by Assistant Professor Dr. Viheno Iralu of Nagaland University and Biochemist Dr. Meguovilie Sachu from the Chief Medical Office, Kohima, have been selected to participate in the Sakura Science Exchange Programme 2025, scheduled to be held in Japan from October 26 to November 1.
According to a press release issued by Nagaland University, the delegation will visit leading universities and research institutions in Okayama, Kyoto, Kurashiki and Osaka as part of the scientific and cultural exchange initiative.
The team comprises six other young researchers representing various scientific disciplines. The programme is fully funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and hosted by Prof. Takahashi Yuichiro of Okayama University.
The Sakura Science Exchange Programme aims to foster international collaboration, innovation and mutual understanding between Japan and other Asian countries through short-term academic interactions.
During the visit, participants will engage in lectures, laboratory visits, discussions with Japanese researchers and cultural immersion activities. These experiences are expected to strengthen academic ties and encourage young researchers to pursue global scientific engagement and innovation.
