In a landmark initiative to promote sports and youth development, the Shamator District Volleyball Association (SDVA) and late Showuba family have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to sponsor the annual Shamator District Volleyball Tournament beginning in 2026.
Under the terms of the MoU, the late Showuba family has committed to fully sponsor all prize money, a one-time championship trophy, and citations for winners for the first three years of the tournament. The partnership aims to nurture young talent and strengthen the sporting culture in Shamator district.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, SDVA president K. Yaksokiu Yimchunger expressed heartfelt gratitude to the family, describing the gesture as “a landmark step in strengthening the foundation of sports in our district.” He added that the collaboration represents more than sponsorship—it is a legacy of encouragement and faith in the youth.
Representing the family, Yanba, son of late Showuba, said that the initiative is a tribute to his father’s lifelong commitment to community welfare and youth empowerment. “Our father believed in unity, hard work, and the spirit of sportsmanship. Through this contribution, we hope to carry forward his values and support the next generation of athletes,” he said.
The signing ceremony, held at SDVA treasure, was attended by representatives from both parties, pastors from STBC, NAPBC and SoilBC, community elders, youth leaders, and sports enthusiasts.
