Nagaland shooters delivered a commendable performance at the 12th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2025, held from September 8 to 13 at the MRA Shooting Gallery in Mualpui, Aizawl, Mizoram. The event was conducted by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and hosted by the Mizoram Rifle Association (MRA).
A total of 12 shooters from Nagaland comprising of 4 women and 8 men participated in the championship and secured an impressive haul of six gold and four silver medals.
Among the standout performers was Kikrukhrienuo Belho, who clinched two gold medals in the 10m Air Rifle Women Individual and Junior Women Individual categories, along with a silver in the Youth Women Individual event. M Tiatemjen Jamir earned two golds in the 50m Rifle 3 Position and 50m Rifle Prone Peep Sight Master Men Individual events, and a silver in the 10m Air Rifle Men Individual (MQS). Lanu Akumtoshi Jamir added two silvers in the 50m Rifle 3 Position and Prone Peep Sight Master Men Individual categories. Lanu Rongsenkaba Jamir secured two golds in the 25m Standard Pistol Men Individual and Master Men Individual events.
Mizoram emerged as the overall champion with 27 gold medals, followed by Meghalaya with 24, Assam with 17 and Nagaland with 6. Other participating units included the Assam Rifle Marksmanship Unit (5 gold), Manipur (4 gold), Army Marksmanship Unit (2 gold), and Arunachal Pradesh (1 gold).
