Straightway Higher Secondary School (SHSS) celebrated Parents Day 2025 on November 15 at Town Hall, Mokokchung, under the theme “Rejoice in the Lord”, with a vibrant display of cultural and creative performances.
The event featured dances, folk tale recitals, folk dances, chorals, slam recitations, songs, and plays, entertaining parents and highlighting the talents of SHSS students.
Delivering the theme note, chairman of SCMC, Dr. Aotemshi, emphasized the role of parents as role models and the need for balanced use of technology among children. He stressed that both parents and teachers must work in close coordination to ensure holistic growth of the child. While the school nurtures knowledge and discipline, he said, it is the family that must foster unity through prayer.
In her welcome and keynote address, administrator of SCMC, Dr. Awala Temshi, outlined the school’s four foundational pillars—Academic Excellence, Inclusive Environment, Skill Development, and Spiritual Development.
A special prayer for parents was offered by SCMC Missionary, Sungkumlemba, while Nukshitula, representing the parents, expressed gratitude to the school management and teaching faculty.
