The two-day 5th edition of the Day-Night Volleyball Tournament, organised by Naoshelim at GMS Ground, Lapa Lampong in Tizit, Mon district, concluded on December 9 with Sivasagar Warriors clinching the championship title.
The tournament, featuring eight teams, was held to raise funds for charity in aid of individuals affected by drug and substance abuse, rehabilitation needs, illness, fire incidents and natural disasters, according to a press release from the organisers. Sivasagar Warriors defeated Radical Hornbill in a four-set thriller to secure the top honour. The Warriors took the opening set 25–21 before Radical Hornbill levelled the contest with a 28–26 win in the second. Regaining momentum, Sivasagar Warriors dominated the remaining sets 25–17 and 25–15 to lift the trophy and claim the winner’s prize of Rs. 50,000. Radical Hornbill settled for the runner-up title and a cash award of Rs. 25,000. In the semi-finals, Radical Hornbill overcame One Team One Dream 25–16, 25–23. While Sivasagar Warriors defeated Eagle Elites 25–14, 25–18. In the Individual Awards, Best Spiker award was bagged by Wonglon (Sivasagar Warriors); Best Setter by Toshienba (Radical Hornbill) and Best Disciplined Team by Eagle Elites. The opening ceremony was graced by PS to the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, B. Tingnon Konyak, as special guest. Captain Shubham Vyas of 42 Assam Rifles attended the closing ceremony as guest of honour.
