The Institution’s Innovation Council, in collaboration with the Department of Botany, St. Joseph University, organized an expert lecture on “IPR Basics for Innovators and Entrepreneurs in Ayurveda” at the University Seminar Hall on February 5.
The programme aimed to create awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Ayurveda.
The inaugural session, chaired by Moachila, Ph.D. Scholar, with an invocation by Mharhoni C. Tsanglao, PG student. Dr. K. Kumar, Assistant Professor, welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person, stressing the relevance of Ayurveda and IPR in the present knowledge-driven economy.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Dipsundar Sahu, M.D., Ph.D., Research Officer (Ay.), In-Charge, Regional Ayurveda Research Centre, Dimapur, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, presented a comprehensive overview of Ayurveda.
The lecture also touched upon ongoing research initiatives in Ayurveda, including clinical trials, pharmacological studies, medicinal plant research, and drug development.
Stressing the importance of IPR in safeguarding innovations and research outcomes, Dr. Sahu encouraged students to explore interdisciplinary careers combining botany, traditional medicine, and entrepreneurship.
