Nagaland South Zone beat NE Zone by 38 runs in Women’s Inter Zonal T20

DIMAPUR, NOV 10 (NPN)

South Zone registered a convincing 38-run victory over North East Zone in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, on Monday. A composed batting display followed by disciplined bowling ensured another confident win for the southern side.
Opting to field first, North East Zone restricted South Zone in the early stages, but the batting unit rallied to post 149/6 in 20 overs. S A Lonkar anchored the innings with a steady 37 off 34 balls, while Sajana S provided late fireworks with a brisk unbeaten 31 from just 15 deliveries, lifting the total beyond the 140 mark. For North East Zone, Pranita C impressed with figures of 2/26 in her four-over spell.
In reply, North East Zone showed resilience but fell short, finishing at 111/7 in their allotted overs. Najmeen Khatun (30 not out off 27 balls) and D D Dutta (30 off 29) stitched together a valuable partnership, but regular breakthroughs from South Zone’s bowlers curtailed their momentum.
Asha S was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3/11 in four overs, while her teammates maintained tight lines to secure the win.
Player of the Match was awarded to Sajana S (South Zone) – 31* (15).
