Maj Gen Naveen Kumar Nijhawan, Chief of Staff (CoS) of Spear Corps and chairman of the Local Board of Administration, paid his maiden visit to Sainik School Punglwa on October 29.
He was received by Col (Dr) Smita Misra, principal of the school. The visit commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, followed by a Guard of Honour led by Cadet Edemi Nuh of Class 10. Cadets Angela and Akhumvi presented a briefing on the school’s infrastructure through the Sand Model.
During the visit, Maj Gen Nijhawan was apprised of the school’s academic activities, UPSC performance, ongoing projects and achievements. He lauded Team SSPN for their efforts toward the holistic development of cadets and the institution.
The General Officer also toured the academic block, hostels, project site, cadets’ mess and sports field. The visit concluded with an interaction session with cadets and staff, where he emphasized the importance of self-discipline and hard work for success. He also encouraged teachers to spend constructive time with cadets and contribute meaningfully to their growth.
The visit provided an opportunity for the General Officer to engage with the school community and share his insights for further development of the institution.
