Nagaland: Special drive for digitisation of old birth & death certificates

Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Nagaland, has announced a special drive for online registration and digitisation of old manual Birth and Death Certificates across the state.
The drive will be conducted from February 5 to February 20, 2026, covering all registration units in Nagaland. Citizens who still possess old manual birth or death certificates have been requested to come forward and get their records officially registered and digitised through the concerned registrars during this period.
According to the directorate, the initiative aims to update and streamline vital records by bringing older manual entries into the digital system, thereby making them more secure, accessible and officially recognised for future use.

Meanwhile, in line with a directive from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has issued an Office Memorandum announcing a Special Drive for the online registration and digitisation of old manual Birth and Death certificates across Kohima district.
Citizens holding old manual Birth or Death certificates have been advised to visit the District Economics and Statistics Office, Kohima, or their respective Registration Units within the stipulated period to digitise their records.
