The 10th Nagaland Spelling Bee Championship organised by the Fountain Club Kohima, in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), will be held from October 5-6 October at RCEMPA, Jotsoma.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Hotel Japfu, Convenor, Vilpopal Kintso informed that hosting the event would significantly contribute to students’ academic success, emphasizing that it would persistently motivate them to be intelligent, make informed decisions, and delve deeply into their studies.
Kintso informed that the competition would be a two-day event with day one as the Preliminary stage and the final stages on the Second day.
Chairman of the Fountain Club, Ruokuovikho Chale encouraged educational institutions to take part in the competition. It was also informed that the Oxford Dictionary and its addenda section would be the final references.
The winner will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 80,000, while the first, second and third runners-up will each receive Rs 60,000, 40,000 and 20,000 respectively. The quarter finalists will receive Rs 10,000 and the young speller will be awarded with Rs 10,000 with citations and trophies.
Two students each educational school , studying in classes 6 to 9, will be eligible to participate in the event. The last date for submission of forms through e-mail fountainclubkma@gmail.com will be September 30.
