The Sanis Range Sports Association (SRSA) conducted its 74th Annual Sports Meet on January 5, marked by vibrant participation from athletes, officials and spectators across the Sanis range. The programme was chaired by Publicity and Information Secretary of SRSA, Yanchemo Murry.
The inaugural session began with an invocation prayer by Catechist of Sacred Heart Church Baghty, Nchumbemo Yanthan, followed by a welcome address from SRSA chairman Shobemo Ezung. He underscored the association’s objectives and highlighted the role of sports in fostering unity, discipline and healthy competition among youth.
Sulan Kikon presented a special musical number. Special guest Registrar of Nagaland University, Dr. Abemo Lotha, lauded the organizers for their dedication and urged young sports enthusiasts to embrace discipline, perseverance, and true sportsmanship. He also emphasized the role of sports in promoting unity, social interaction and community development. The chief guest formally declared the tournament open, setting the stage for the competitions ahead.
