Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBS&G) hosted a regional level seminar for North East Region on the theme “My Rights and Me as A Leader” at State Training Centre, Nerhema from April 22-26 with project manager for Her World, Her Voice, Himanshi Tomar from Bharat Scouts and Guides national headquarters, New Delhi, as resource person.
In a press release, state organising commissioner (guide), Vimezhonu Tetso informed that while speaking at programme, the first chairperson of Nagaland State Commission for Women, Sano Vamuzo, who was also former State Organising Commissioner (Guide), NSBS&G encouraged the young women to know their rights and deliver their responsibilities effectively.
Besides various sessions on rights of women and other related topics, participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, North Frontier Railways and Nagaland visited the Nagaland State Commission for Women and Nagaland State Legal Services Authority to get first-hand experience on working for women in the state.
The team was welcomed by secretary of the State Commission for Women, Bodeno S Colo and her members.
The touring team went around the commission’s office and interacted with members and staff to learn about how the Commission works for women.
They also visited the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority where the project coordinators spoke on various topics about legal rights of women, facilities available and how to get involved in helping people when they were victim of various crimes.
The participants also had an interactive session with legal experts.
Later, a grand campfire was graced by secretary (judicial), department of Justice and Law, Nino Iralu, where she spoke on how to go about delivering help to victims and help them get justice.
