Nagaland: State level job fair in Kohima

A State Level Job Fair 2025 organised by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Department of School Education, was held at T.M. Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima on Friday to empower students through vocational education and employability skills.
Delivering the inaugural address, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, L. Jamithung Lotha said the department was up-skilling government school students through training and assessment by the Sector Skills Council. He maintained that the Job Fair was aimed at connecting skilled youth with employers, enabling interaction between the job market and students to assess their skills. Lotha added that the initiative would have a far-reaching impact and stressed that under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, skilling was mandatory for all students.
He further stated that the objectives of the Job Fair included facilitating job placements, apprenticeships and internships, strengthening industry linkages, creating awareness on career and security options, conducting on-site interviews, counselling and entrepreneurship tests, and establishing employment facilitation modes to benefit students in the long run.
In her introductory speech, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Dr. Chumbeni Kikon said it was the first time Samagra Shiksha Nagaland had organised a State Level Job Fair for vocational students and alumni. She expressed gratitude to the five vocational training partners and consultants for their support. Kikon highlighted that the fair also aimed to provide career counselling and introduce the “My Career Advisor App,” a Ministry of Education initiative, urging students of Classes IX to XII to avail the opportunity.
She informed that apart from skill-specific training, vocational students had come up with innovative practices, with some schools displaying their products for sale. Exhibition stalls were also set up by 22 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya hostels and 13 residential hostels showcasing finished products. The Job Fair featured vocational education in trades such as Tourism & Hospitality, Automotive, Beauty & Wellness, Electronics & Hardware, Multi-skilling, Retail, Healthcare, Plumbing, IT/ITES and Agriculture.
Employers included Mevi Enterprise, Ilandlo Services Pvt. Ltd, Local Colour Nagaland, Café Eva, Talent Acquaintance, Hotel Polo Towers, Symbios Group, Vuto Hyundai, Matrix Enterprise, Fashion TV, The Green Caravan, The Baker’s Oven, New Gold Star Tyres and YouthNet. Students from various districts and in and around Kohima attended the fair.
