National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland state unit has strongly condemned the recent assault and public humiliation of a Christian Pastor in Odisha, describing the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable” in a democratic and secular nation.
NPP Nagaland unit through its media & IPR cell expressed full alignment with the strong condemnation issued by NPP National leaders, including the communication addressed to the chief minister of Odisha. The party asserted that targeting a Pastor or any religious leader on grounds of faith was a direct attack on India’s Constitution, undermining the values of harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect that unite the nation.
NPP Nagaland appealed to the Odisha government to conduct a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation and take strict legal action against all responsible.
Further, the party urged the Centre and national authorities to closely monitor the matter and ensure protection of freedom of religion, dignity, and personal liberty as guaranteed under the Constitution.
NPP called upon all sections of society to maintain peace and restraint, preventing divisive forces from disturbing communal harmony.
The party affirmed solidarity with the Pastor and his family, expressing hope that justice would be delivered through due process of law.
