Nagaland State rolls out new in-house e-Pay bill system

DIMAPUR, NOV 28 (NPN)

The Department of Treasuries & Accounts has launched a new e-Pay Bill System, marking a major step toward improving efficiency, accuracy and transparency in the State’s financial management, a DIPR report stated.
Developed entirely in-house and hosted at the State Data Centre, the upgraded system builds on the earlier e-Pay application and offers faster bill preparation, smoother processing and improved coordination with other Treasury platforms. It is fully integrated with TreasuryNet, eNPS and the Grade-IV e-GPF system, reducing manual workload and minimising clerical errors in salary bills, deductions and GPF contributions.
According to the department, the system features a more user-friendly interface with quicker employee selection for bill preparation and automatic challan generation for deductions such as Professional Tax, GPF and House Tax. Budget details and certain deduction components are now drawn directly from TreasuryNet, streamlining the work of Drawing and Disbursing Officers and improving data consistency.
Launching the application at the directorate, Finance Commissioner Kesonyu Yhome congratulated the officers and IT team for successfully developing the system internally, describing it as a proud moment for the State. He said an in-house solution ensures better ownership, sustainability and scope for further strengthening the State’s financial systems.
The initiative was first proposed by chief secretary Sentiyanger Imchen during his tenure as Finance Commissioner. A brief presentation was made by Vechiso Chakhesang, Additional Director, before the formal launch.
The new system is expected to enhance efficiency, accuracy and reliability in bill preparation and payment across the State.
