Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed serious concern over recent media reports alleging that selected candidates for posts of conductors, mechanic helpers, and multi-tasking staff (MTS) in the Nagaland State Transport (NST) department were asked to pay Rs.10,000 each under the pretext of “paper work.”
In a press release, DNSU described the alleged practice as unethical, a blatant violation of transparency, fairness, and merit-based recruitment. The union described as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable” the exploitation of unemployed youth by demanding money after selection.
DNSU affirmed that it would not tolerate corruption, bribery, or exploitation of students and job-seeking youth. It said the future of educated unemployed youth cannot be held hostage by corrupt individuals abusing authority.
Therefore, DNSU has demanded an immediate, impartial, and time-bound investigation into the matter. It also demanded identification and strict legal action against all individuals involved, irrespective of position or influence.
DNSU has sought assurance from the department that such practices would not recur and that recruitment processes would remain transparent and accountable. The union affirmed it would closely monitor the situation and initiate democratic and lawful measures if justice was delayed or denied. DNSU has urged the state government and responsible authorities to treat the issue with utmost seriousness and restore public trust in the recruitment system.
