Nagaland: Sümi bodies seek fair recruitment rally

A joint delegation of the Sümi Hoho, Sümi Kükami Hoho and Sümi Totimi Hoho called on the Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto district, on Monday and submitted a representation urging for a free, fair, transparent and merit-based conduct of the upcoming Police Recruitment Rally scheduled for January 7.
During the interaction, the organisations stressed that the recruitment process must strictly adhere to prescribed rules and guidelines, without favouritism, recommendation or external influence, in order to uphold the credibility and integrity of the system.
The Superintendent of Police assured the delegation that all necessary arrangements were being made to ensure transparency, fairness and smooth conduct of the rally. He further highlighted that adequate supervision and monitoring mechanisms would be in place, while appreciating the constructive initiative of the Sümi frontal organisations.
The delegation conveyed that the Sümi bodies would extend full cooperation and support to the district administration and police authorities to ensure a peaceful and orderly recruitment process. The meeting was held in a cordial spirit, reflecting a shared commitment to fairness, justice and public trust in the recruitment of disciplined forces.
The representation, signed by Dr. Vihuto Asumi (President, Sümi Hoho), Akükau Hetoho S. Zhimomi (President, Sümi Kükami Hoho), and Husheli K. Zhimo (Vice President, Sümi Totimi Hoho), called for strict adherence to recruitment guidelines and equal opportunity for all eligible candidates.
The Sümi bodies emphasized that the police force, being a disciplined institution entrusted with upholding law, justice and public order, must conduct its recruitment strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and guidelines, without favouritism, recommendation or external influence. They urged the Superintendent of Police to ensure: strict adherence to recruitment rules and guidelines; equal opportunity for all eligible candidates without bias or favouritism; no undue influence or preferential treatment to any individual or group; adequate supervision and monitoring mechanisms to uphold transparency and integrity and full cooperation from Sümi frontal organisations to support peaceful and orderly conduct of the rally.
The representation further stated that a fair and credible recruitment process would strengthen public trust in the police administration and inspire deserving youth to serve the state with dignity and commitment.
The Sümi bodies expressed full confidence in the leadership of the Superintendent of Police and hoped the rally would be conducted in the highest spirit of fairness and justice.
