Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has expressed deep concern over the transfer order issued by the Government of Nagaland vide Notification No. DSE/GTREQ/NPSC/2023/303 dated October 29, 2025, transferring Ravindra Pratap Singh, Graduate Teacher (Mathematics), from Government High School (GHS) Seyochung to GMS Kiphire Village.
In a representation, SVSU president, Longtili C Sangtam and general secretary, Tsise stated that Singh is currently the only Mathematics teacher at GHS Seyochung, which has been facing an acute shortage of teaching staff, particularly in Maths and Science.
The Union warned that the transfer would leave students without a Maths teacher, severely impacting their academic preparation, especially with annual examinations approaching.
SVSU lamented that despite repeated appeals through official letters and media reports for the appointment of additional teachers, no action has been taken. Instead, the department has opted to transfer the only existing Maths teacher, a move the Union described as discouraging and ill-timed.
The Union further noted that many students rely on Singh’s guidance, and his removal at this critical juncture would be detrimental to their academic progress. SVSU therefore earnestly appealed to the concerned authorities to revoke the transfer order and allow Ravindra Pratap Singh to continue serving at GHS Seyochung until a qualified replacement is posted.
