Nagaland: SVSU holds triennial session; scholarships announced

The 64th UBA Triennial Session of Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) commenced Monday at Seyochung Village under the theme “Rooted in Culture, Rising with Sustainability.”
Gracing the occasion as special guest, Disani Newmai, Additional Superintendent of Police (SP), Kiphire, said that preserving culture alone was not sufficient and stressed the need to encourage sustainability and constructive growth. He emphasized peaceful coexistence with all sections of society, while informing that the DGP could not attend the programme due to an important Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) meeting in Delhi.
Delivering the keynote address, SVSU president Longtili C. Sangtam expressed gratitude to the guest and highlighted the rich legacy of Seyochung Village, established in 1871 according to oral history, and the formation of the Students’ Union in 1963. He noted that the village is blessed as its founder is still alive and shared that the union currently has 948 registered students.
Lichose Yangziba, in his address, thanked God for the growth of the village and called for unity among the people. Yangkhaba, Suro Pümji Abüdongba, encouraged students to focus on improving schools in the village and assured full support, stating that the Suro Pümji stands with the union in all efforts benefiting education and welfare.
Meanwhile, SVSU president Longtili announced that the union, in partnership with Eduversity, will sponsor a 100% scholarship for two aspirants from Seyochung Village preparing for NPSC and UPSC examinations. He further informed that free NPSC study materials would be distributed on December 30 at the Eduversity stall at the Public Ground, Seyochung, while a full set of NSSB study materials would be awarded to the winner of the essay competition.
