Nagaland: Swachh Bharat Mission (U) observed in Kohima

D Block Ward No. 6, in partnership with the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), spearheaded Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on Saturday in Kohima. The initiative, focusing on cleanliness and environmental conservation, featured a mass cleaning drive and tree planting activity.


Key collaborators included the 13 Assam Rifles and Government Primary School, D Block, demonstrating a united community effort towards a cleaner, greener Kohima.


Sanitation Committee Convenor of D Block Ward No. 6, Neisavotuo Whuorie inaugurated the event. KMC Councillor, sanitation and water supply convenor, Thenusou Sekhose, in her keynote address emphasized on the importance of good sanitary practices and personal responsibility in maintaining cleanliness, stating, “Cleanliness is everyone’s business.”


The campaign’s highlight was a comprehensive cleaning drive targeting the designated Cleanliness Target Unit (CTU) within the ward. Volunteers from various sectors of the community worked tirelessly to improve the local environment. Following the cleaning efforts, participants engaged in a tree planting initiative near the CTU.
