Nagaland: Tallest Naga man attracts visitors at Konyak Morung

The Konyak Morung at the ongoing 26th Hornbill Festival has become an unexpected attraction with the presence of Yungan Khampai, regarded as the tallest Naga man. Khampai, who stands at 6 feet 9 inches, has been drawing a continuous stream of visitors since the inaugural day at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
The 24-year-old hails from Longwa Wasa village under Mon district and has been stationed at the morung throughout the festival. Tourists and visitors have been gathering in large numbers to meet him, with many seen taking photographs and interacting with him throughout the day.
Khampai weighs around 120 kg and is the fourth among 5 siblings. He currently resides with his parents in their native village. His presence has reportedly turned the morung into a major point of interest, with many visitors expressing fascination at encountering someone of his exceptional height.
Khampai’s participation has added a unique element to the cultural showcase and has significantly enhanced footfall overall.
