Nagaland Tamlu CSOs demand cancellation of teacher transfer orders

DIMAPUR, NOV 2 (NPN)

Civil society organisations (CSOs) of Tamlu Town and Tamlu Village under Longleng district have jointly opposed the recent transfer of two Graduate Teachers (Mathematics) from GMS Tamlu Village and GMS Tamlu Town, citing adverse impact on academic activities.
In a joint open letter addressed to the Directorate of School Education, the Civil society organisations condemned Transfer Order No. DSE/GT-REO/NPSC/2023/303 dated October 29, 2025, stating that both teachers were the lone subject instructors in their respective schools.
The CSOs pointed out that earlier rationalisation orders had already led to the transfer of two primary teachers each from both schools and the lone subject teacher (GT-English) from GMS Tamlu Village ‘B’, without any replacements till date. They said the repeated withdrawal of teachers without relievers has resulted in manpower shortage, compromised student learning outcomes, and increased pressure on existing staff.
The CSOs also raised serious concerns over the transfer process, questioning whether proper manpower analysis was undertaken or if the decisions were influenced by “bias or personal references.” They urged the department to assess existing staff strength before effecting transfers, rather than resorting to arbitrary selections akin to “drawing a lottery result.”
Further, the Civil society organisations appealed to the department to adopt a fair and balanced approach in teacher deployment.
The organisations therefore demanded immediate cancellation of the recent transfer order and called for equitable distribution of teachers to ensure uninterrupted quality education. They also appealed for an early and favourable response from the department.
The representation was endorsed by the chairpersons of Tamlu Village Council, Tamlu Town Public Forum, SMC GMS Tamlu Village ‘B’, SMC GMS Tamlu Town, Head GB Tamlu Town, Phomla Hoichem Tamlu Unit, and the presidents of TVSU and TTSU.
