Nagaland tEA holds 3rd R2Run for climate and startups

DIMAPUR, Oct 25 (NPN)

The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) organised the third edition of Run to Reforest (R2Run), its annual climate advocacy event under the Trees for Wealth (TfW) Movement, on October 25 in Kohima.
Flagged off at High School Junction by tEA executive director Neikule Doulo, the event featured a marathon run and, for the first time, a penalty shootout competition. Participants followed the Secretariat Road route, culminating at IG Stadium, where a separate category for children under 15 was also held.
Addressing the gathering, Doulo highlighted the TfW movement’s goal to plant 3 billion trees by 2050 and urged citizens to take ownership of environmental restoration.
She reported that over 30 lakh trees have already been planted, with community land demarcated in Phek and Manipur, and a model farmland initiated in Peren district.
Doulo emphasized that Nagaland’s tradition of community land holding offers a unique opportunity to combat forest loss and transform degraded land into micro-orchards.
“Every participant is a Reforester,” she said, calling for collective action to make Nagaland the fruit hub of India.
The run concluded with a prize distribution ceremony chaired by Chubazen Longkumer. Wede T Mero won gold in the 15+ male category, marking his third consecutive R2Run victory. Songmo P and Jemie Y won first and second in the 15+ female category.
In the penalty shootout held at IG Stadium, The Pro D FC emerged champions, followed by Mez and Co. as runners-up. Cash prizes of Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 were awarded respectively.
Founded in 2000, tEA is a non-profit society promoting entrepreneurship across Nagaland and the Northeast.
It has supported over 18,000 First Generation Entrepreneurs, 1,500 Self Help Groups, 10,000 women street vendors, 30,000 farmers, and created 35,000 youth employment opportunities to date.
