Nagaland teachers oriented on project-based learning

DIMAPUR

In a bid to enhance classroom instruction and promote student-centered learning, the first online orientation on Project-Based Learning (PBL) was held on July 30 for government school teachers in Nagaland.
PBL is an instructional approach that encourages students to engage with real-world challenges through meaningful, long-term projects. It fosters inquiry, creativity, and deeper understanding, moving beyond rote learning to build critical thinking and collaborative skills.
The session saw participation from around 70 educators, including Grade 4 and 5 teachers and representatives from Education Block Resource Centres (EBRCs) across Seyochung, Sitimi, and Kiphire blocks of Kiphire district.
Jointly organised by Education Above All, Mantra4Change, ShikshaLokam, and Samagra Shiksha (Department of School Education, Nagaland), the orientation aimed to equip teachers with practical strategies to implement PBL in classrooms, making education more relevant to local contexts.
Opening remarks were delivered by Markangla Jamir, PMU, NIPUN Mission, while the Mantra4Change team facilitated the session. Participants responded positively, reflecting growing interest in innovative teaching methods.
The next phase of the programme will cover teachers from Pungro and Khongsa blocks in Kiphire, as well as from Dimapur district.
