Nagaland: Thejavizo Merhieso crowned NAYSA-C wrestling champion

Thejavizo Merhieso of Nerhema was crowned the senior category champion of the Northern Angami Youth & Sports Association (NAYSA) Group-C Wrestling Meet 2026 held at Tsiesema Village ground on Thursday.
In the senior category, Thejavizo clinched the title, while Petoulhoulie Sorünuo of Zhadima secured second place. Keneichütuo Semou of Nerhema finished third and Ruokuovizo Soriinuo of Zhadima placed fourth.
The senior category winner walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, while the runner-up received Rs. 15,000. The third and fourth place finishers were awarded Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7,000 respectively. Quarter-finalists were awarded Rs. 2,000 each.
In the under-15 category, Keviletuo Khro of Tsiesema emerged as the champion. Ketouphrezo Khro, also from Tsiesema, secured the second position, while Viketoulie Miario of Zhadima and Razousetuo Rutsa of Nerhe-Model finished third and fourth respectively.
The under-15 category champion received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, while the runner-up and third place finishers were awarded Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively.
Earlier, the inaugural ceremony of the wrestling meet was held with Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, as the chief guest. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by personal assistant to the chief minister, Seyiekhrielhou Kuotsu, as the special guest.
