Nagaland to host IAF Agniveervayu recruitment rally in September

DIMAPUR: Nagaland will host an Open Recruitment Rally for the Indian Air Force’s Agniveervayu scheme in September 2026, marking the first such rally in the state in a decade.
According to DIPR report, the decision was taken at a meeting convened under the chairmanship of the Special Secretary (Home) on June 10 at the Conference Room of the Principal Secretary (Home), Kohima. Officials from the Home Department and other key departments attended to plan the recruitment drive.
Welcoming the members, the Special Secretary (Home) expressed appreciation to Wing Commander A. Muralidharan, Commanding Officer, Indian Air Force, and his colleague. He noted that the rally would provide a valuable opportunity for Nagaland’s youth to serve in the IAF.
Briefing the gathering, Wing Commander Muralidharan highlighted the benefits of the Agniveer scheme, pointing out that youth from Nagaland and other Northeastern states have not been able to fully avail such opportunities due to limited awareness and low participation in the past. He informed that the rally would be open to both male and female candidates under the Agniveervayu (Non Technical) category.
He further reminded that the IAF is conducting a recruitment rally in Nagaland after a gap of 10 years and requested the state government to extend assistance, including vehicles and accommodation for around 5-7 officers and about 70 warrant officers and senior non commissioned officers.
After deliberation, it was decided that the rally would tentatively be held at the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Chümoukedima, which already has the necessary infrastructure and logistical facilities.
Department wise responsibilities were also finalised: PHQ will appoint a nodal officer from 1st NAP, Chümoukedima, to liaise with IAF authorities; the Commissioner’s Office will direct the DC Chümoukedima to extend administrative support; the Health & Family Welfare Department will depute a medical team with doctors, staff and ambulance; the School Education Department will provide four teachers to assist with document verification; the Home Department will coordinate transport; DIPR will ensure wide publicity through banners and media; and the Fire Services will provide one fire tender for exigencies.
It was further decided that the IAF will issue the recruitment advertisement, with detailed eligibility criteria and qualification requirements, at least 45 days before the rally to ensure maximum awareness and participation.
