Nagaland: Tourists participate in stilt bamboo race at Kisama

DIMAPUR, DEC 3 (NPN)

The Department of Youth Resources & Sports organized the traditional Stilt Bamboo Race for tourists and visitors from outside the state at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on December 3. The event, held at the Kisama Amphitheatre, saw enthusiastic participation from 10 male and 5 female contestants.
According to a DIPR report, in the female category, Kuenne Katrin from Germany emerged as the winner, while Sumi Deka from Assam and Marina from Germany secured the first and second runner-up positions respectively.
In the male category, Duncan from Australia clinched the top spot, followed by Neelav Pathak from Assam as the first runner-up and Sharam from Jaipur as the second runner-up.
The winners in both categories were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 7,000, Rs. 5,000, and Rs. 3,000 respectively.
The event, showcasing one of the Nagas’ indigenous games, provided tourists with a unique cultural experience and highlighted the rich traditional sports heritage of the state.
