Nagaland TWA, TSU flay kidnapping of Thonoknyu VDB secretary

DIMAPUR, OCT 31 (NPN)

Tikhir Women Association (TWA) and Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) have strongly condemned the kidnapping of Thonoknyu village VDB secretary and threat on village council chairman by unknown armed miscreants on the night of October 30, 2025.
In a press release, TWA president Y. Tushila Caroline and general secretary R. Khianmongshi said the “heinous act” was a grave threat to innocent leaders and the public.
TWA has, therefore, urged the law enforcing agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the matter. The association also demanded that those responsible be held accountable. “This act of antisocial activities should be condemned by every right thinking citizen,” TWA stated.
TSU: Expressing grave concern over the incident, Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) said unidentified armed miscreants, who forcefully intruded into the residence of Thonoknyu village council chairman, not only issued severe threat to the chairman but also abducted the VDB secretary.
The student body stated that “such lawless and terror inducing activities” eroded the foundational fabric of communal peace and jeopardised the safety and dignity of peace-loving inhabitants of the Thonoknyu circle.
TSU has called upon the state government to intervene and deploy adequate security forces to restore tranquillity, uphold the rule of law, and prevent any further breach of order within the Thonoknyu jurisdiction. It demanded that immediate action be taken ensure that miscreants did not exploit the prevailing situation to disrupt public security.
Further, the union appealed to the police and all relevant law enforcement agencies to apprehend those responsible for the abduction and intimidation.
TSU reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard the welfare of the people under the Thonoknyu jurisdiction. The union asserted that it would continue to exert every possible effort until the safe release of the abducted individual and normalcy was fully restored.
