Nagaland U-17 Girls’ Team leaves for Subroto Cup

Nagaland U-17 girls’ football team will be landing in New Delhi tomorrow to participate in the upcoming 64th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2025, Junior Girls (U-17) category.
The team is represented by SHRI PM Government High School, Meriema, under the guidance of coach Kevilebei Zashümo and manager Easter Longkumer. As per the fixture, Nagaland will play its opening match against Haryana on August 20.
The squad comprises 16 players: Zangyao Konyak, Kevipfhenuo Semou, Zemloi T. Konyak, Khrieletuono Chusi, Nunevinuo Kera, Lhuvekulu, Peteneinuo, Kekhrieseno Kiso, Rokothono Thami, Niansai H, Rokovino Yongo, Rukokholu Shijoh, Angamkala Jamir, KhuloI P, Sangki N, and Medovinuo.
The 64th edition of the Subroto Cup will officially open on August 19 at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi, with matches scheduled to continue until August 28. Around 32 teams are expected to participate in the Junior Girls (U-17) category, competing for one of the country’s most prestigious school-level football titles.
Subroto Cup, instituted in 1960 in memory of Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, the first Indian Chief of Air Staff, has grown into an international event featuring champion school teams from across India and abroad.
Earlier editions of the tournament have witnessed notable performances by Nagaland teams.
Officials accompanying the team expressed optimism, stating that the players have prepared earnestly and are eager to prove their capabilities on the national stage. They added that the team’s participation is not only about competition but also about nurturing young talent and giving exposure to Nagaland’s budding footballers.
