The U-23 Cricket Tournament 2026, organised by the Cricket Association Mon District (CAMD) and hosted by the Aboi Sports’ Association (ASA), concluded at Aboi Town on January 24. The four-day event, held from January 21 to 24, witnessed participation from five teams representing different parts of Mon district.
The opening ceremony was graced by Langwang Angh, PA to MLA 47 A/C Aboi and vice president of MDFA, as special guest. He encouraged the players to uphold discipline, unity, and dedication through sports, inspiring the athletes at the start of the tournament.
The final and closing programme was attended by Yarenthung, commandant of the 11th NAP (IR) Battalion, Aboi, and Wennyei Konyak, Deputy Commissioner Mon and president of CAMD. Delivering the keynote address, Wennyei emphasized the role of sports in youth development, character building, and strengthening district-level unity.
Several dignitaries, Heads of Departments, and leaders of civil society organizations from Aboi were present. Meanwhile, the Aboi Sports’ Association expressed gratitude to CAMD, participating teams, officials, volunteers, and the public for their cooperation, which contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament.
