Nagaland: Unity College observes9th annual cultural day

Unity College Dimapur observed the 9th edition of its annual cultural day on Friday with vibrant displays of tradition, music, and dance, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of diverse communities.
According to a press release, in his address principal Dr. Lichumo Enie spoke on the theme of unity, strength, and intrinsic identity. Emphasizing the significance of cultural heritage, she stated that it forms the foundation of individual and collective identity, shaping who we are both as individuals and as a community.
The programme featured a myriad of colourful performances and traditional demonstrations, including displays of fire-making, war cries, and winnowing. The audience was also treated to an enactment of a skit on Naga identity, alongside a series of folk performances such as Holo Hi Holo, a Sangtam folk dance; Oh Hi Ho, a Tenyimia folk song; Ramphan Motsu, a Lotha folktale; Yanpu Hangpu, a Konyak folk dance; Bajre Da Sitta, a Punjabi folk dance; Moatsu Benjongmung Washiteper, an Ao folk song; and Melo Jajine, an Arunachali folk song. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Cultural Secretary, Unity College Students’ Council Lumvila Sangtam.
