Nagaland University gears up for NE Zone University Championship

DIMAPUR, JAN 5 (NPN)

Nagaland University has announced its participation in the prestigious AIU North East Zone University Championship, scheduled to be held from January 5 to 11, 2026, at Royal Global University, Guwahati.
Last year’s runners-up, Nagaland University secured second position in the tournament and now returns with renewed determination and a stronger squad comprising 22 talented players. The team is led by Coach Wati Longchar and Manager Mesanguto Meru, Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University.
With the aim of clinching the top spot this year, the squad is preparing to face high-stakes competition against leading universities from across the North East region. The championship is expected to showcase athletic excellence and sportsmanship among participating institutions.
Nagaland University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering holistic development through both academics and sports, while continuing to nurture sporting talent from the state.
