A galaxy of eminent science academicians were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards by Nagaland University during the inaugural ceremony of the International Conference on Chemistry in Multidisciplinary Research (ICCMR–2026), organised by the Department of Chemistry from February 18–20 at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, Lumami.
The awards were conferred on Prof. A.K. Mallik, Prof. V.S. Raja, Prof. M.A. Quraishi, Prof. M. Indira Devi and Prof. Nitin Chattopadhyay in recognition of their distinguished contributions to the field of chemistry and allied sciences.
Prof. A.K. Mallik, Department of Chemistry, Punjabi University, Patiala, is renowned for his pioneering work in materials chemistry, nanotechnology and surface science. He has guided numerous scholars and spearheaded research on nanomaterials, thin films and electrochemical sensors with applications in energy storage and environmental monitoring.
Prof. V.S. Raja, Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT Bombay, is internationally recognised for his contributions to corrosion science and engineering. His research has advanced corrosion protection strategies and failure analysis in critical industrial environments, while also strengthening IIT Bombay’s research ecosystem.
Prof. M.A. Quraishi, former Head of Chemistry, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, is a globally acclaimed expert in corrosion science and green chemistry. He pioneered eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for diverse industries and has over 380 publications, an h-index of 68, and more than 15,000 citations. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).
Prof. M. Indira Devi (FRSC), Senior Professor, Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University, Lumami, has served as Dean, School of Sciences, and is noted for her expertise in Physical Chemistry, particularly lanthanide complexation studies and nanomaterials research.
Prof. Nitin Chattopadhyay, former Professor and Dean, Faculty of Science, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, is distinguished for his pioneering research in photophysics, photochemistry and fluorescence sensing. A Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Sciences India, he continues to contribute as CSIR Emeritus Scientist and Visiting Professor at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur.
The recognition of these academicians underscores Nagaland University’s commitment to celebrating excellence in scientific research and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration through ICCMR–2026.
