Nagaland University organises training programme

DIMAPUR

School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS), Medziphema Campus, organised a training-cum-inputs distribution programme on December 19 at the IPM Model Village, Rusoma, Kohima. The programme was conducted under the project “Establishment of crop-based model IPM Villages for promotion of integrated pest management technologies in the NEH region of India”, funded by ICAR–NRIIPM, New Delhi.
The training on integrated pest management on Orange was imparted by SAS, NU, Department of Entomology, assistant professor, Dr. Waluniba, with farmers being provided training on the different insect pests associated with Orange, and on identifying and managing them through the IPM approach.
SAS, NU Department of Soil Science, assistant professor, Dr. Kevineituo Bier, dwelt on the importance of soil management aspects through integrated nutrient management to increase the soil productivity and improve the soil health and quality. Inputs including knapsack sprayers, yellow stick traps, neem oil, Trichoderma, biofertilizers, Beauveria bassiana, phosphate-solubilizing bacteria, buckets, lime, and copper sulphate (for Bordeaux mixture preparation) were distributed among farmers in the adopted village.
