Nagaland VDB Association condemns abduction

DIMAPUR

Nagaland State Village Development Board (VDB) Association has strongly condemned the reported threat and intimidation towards the village chairman of Thonoknyu village council and abduction of village VDB secretary by armed miscreants on the night of October 30.
In a press release, the association president Tohoshe and general secretary Manthungo Kikon.
issued denounced the “heinous act of threat and intimidation” and termed it as a grave assault on peace, security and democratic functioning of village institutions. The Association expressed concern over the increasing vulnerability of VDB Secretaries who work for grassroots development. It stated that such acts of violence and coercion were unacceptable and undermined the integrity of village governance.
Calling for swift and exemplary action, the Association urged law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice. It also reaffirmed its solidarity with the Thonoknyu Village Council and the VDB Management Committee, assuring full cooperation and support.
Further, the Association appealed to all right-thinking citizens to uphold peace, unity and safeguard grassroots institutions across the State.
