Nagaland VDBSA Changpang block condemns threat, abduction

VDB Secretaries’ Association (VDBSA) Changpang block under Wokha district has strongly condemned threat on Thonoknyu village council chairman and alleged abduction of Thonoknyu village VDB secretary by unidentified miscreants on October 30 night.
In a press release, VDBSA Changpang block president Sentsudy P.B. Sen Yanthan and general secretary Puloto G Awomi described the act of miscreants as a direct challenge to the village authority and provocation of peace and harmony in the state.
The association maintained that the village council and VDB were local governing bodies instituted and entrusted by the stale government to look after the development activities and maintain peace.
Therefore, it said intimidation or any kind of threat meted out to village functionaries was a direct challenge to the state government that appointed them.
VDBSA Changpang block has appealed to the state government and RD department to act swiftly in apprehending those responsible and rescue the victim without further delay.
Further, the association called upon every right-thinking citizen to come forward and condemn such anti-social activities. It also appealed to those responsible to release the victim without any condition.
