Nagaland ward-11 Pfutsero polling: Govt employees to get holiday for voting

DIMAPUR

The State Home department has declared October 28, 2025 (Tuesday), the polling day for Ward-11 (Zhipa) under Pfutsero Town Council, as a paid holiday for all State and Central government employees registered as electors in the ward.
This also applies to employees enrolled as electors under Ward-11 but ordinarily residing or working in other ward areas, a DIPR report stated.
The notification further stated that the paid holiday is intended to enable all registered electors to participate and exercise their franchise without hindrance.
Similarly, it said that under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Act XXVI), all employees of banks and financial institutions in Nagaland who are registered electors in Ward-11 will also be granted a paid holiday on the polling day.
Further, under Section 10 of the Nagaland Shops and Establishment Act, 1982, the notification stated that all shops and commercial establishments in Pfutsero Town Council owned, managed, or run by persons registered as electors in Ward-11 shall remain closed during polling hours to facilitate voting.
The notification clarified that these provisions will not apply to any elector whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss in respect of the employment in which he or she is engaged.
