Working Committee (WC) of NNPGs has urged apex tribal bodies to steer clear of what it termed “selective amnesia” during this crucial juncture in Naga history.
The committee recalled that when Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) became inactive between 2015 and 2022, tribal Hohos and NNPG leaders engaged in extensive consultations from 2016 to 2019, issuing several joint statements as key stakeholders. It also said that multiple conclaves involving tribal hohos and Naga CSOs from Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh were held as the need for a practical political solution became unavoidable. The core understanding, WC said, was that the Government of India must respect Naga history and identity, while Nagas must also recognise practical challenges before the Centre.
WC said the Agreed Position signed, was the result of a deeply refined political thought process-shaped by the contributions of politically conscious Naga intellectuals-and represented a milestone of collaborative political craftsmanship in the Indo-Naga peace process.
