The Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) on Tuesday briefed the media on preparations for its forthcoming football tournament, scheduled to begin later this month.
Officials informed that team registrations, which opened on January 5, will remain open until January 20. The draw of fixtures is slated for January 24, while the tournament will kick off on January 28.
Announcing a total prize pool of Rs. 3.75 lakh, the association said the champions will receive Rs. 2 lakh, the runners-up Rs. 1 lakh, and the two losing semifinalists Rs. 25,000 each. In addition, five individual awards carrying Rs. 5,000 each have been instituted.
WDFA noted that the tournament has been organised locally over the years and appealed to well-wishers to extend support for its successful conduct by contacting association officials.
Meanwhile, the technical committee urged players to complete registration under the Centralised Registration System (CRS) by submitting Aadhaar and PAN cards, attested birth certificates, and passport-size photographs. The association stated that CRS registration would streamline player identification and transfers, adding that players without CRS cards would not be eligible to participate in recognised tournaments in the future.
Following the press conference, WDFA also held a meeting with the Wokha District Referee Board.
