Nagaland wins 5 medals at Muaythai C’ship

DIMAPUR, JUN 6 (NPN): Team Nagaland delivered an impressive performance at the 7th UMAI Youth National Muaythai Championship 2026, held at Haldwani, Uttarakhand from June 1 to 4, clinching a total of five medals.
The medal winners are: Akivika V. Yepthomi – Gold (U 15 male, –63.5 kg); Niuka Chophi – Silver (U 18 male, –60 kg) and Silver in Wai Kru; Boaz Tissicca – Bronze (U 18 male, –57 kg) and Dilsan Mehra – Bronze (U 15 male, –75 kg).
Following his gold medal feat, Akivika V. Yepthomi has been selected to represent India at the Youth Muaythai World Championship scheduled to be held in Olympia, Greece, from November 6 to 16, 2026. Adding to the team’s success, Kru Hemavi Ayemi, coach of Team Nagaland, was honoured with a special recognition award for his service as an official during the championship.
Meanwhile, the All Nagaland Amateur Muaythai Association (ANAMA) congratulated the athletes and coaching staff for their achievement and extended best wishes to Akivika for the upcoming World Championship.
