Nagaland: Winter Juniors Open Badminton Jamboree 2025 concludes

The Star Badminton Academy (SBA), Nagaland, under the aegis of the Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA), conducted the Winter Juniors Open Badminton Jamboree 2025 on December 12 and 13 at the SBA complex, K. Kire Colony, C Khel, Kuda Village, Dimapur. The two-day tournament attracted 151 entries across boys and girls categories ranging from Under-11 to Under-19, offering a vibrant platform for budding shuttlers to showcase their talent and gain competitive exposure.
The jamboree also served as an unofficial curtain-closer to the sports segment of the Hornbill Festival 2025.
In the boys’ singles, Purvik Agarwalla of Golaghat emerged as a standout performer, clinching both the Under-11 and Under-13 titles. Evan Gogoi (Dibrugarh), Rajdeep Bora (Jorhat), and Monarch Borgonhain (Sibsagar) secured victories in the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 categories respectively. Runners-up included Tono Swu (Niuland), Sentiyanger Jamir (Mokokchung), and James Hati Baruah (Dibrugarh).
Heloka Swu of Niuland finished runner-up in both Under-17 and Under-19 singles but partnered with Chovung Pochury (Dimapur) to clinch the Under-17 doubles crown. In the Under-19 doubles, Kalo Truman and Wungmayo Vashum from Manipur lifted the championship trophy, while Aryan Baruati and Monarch Borgonhain (Sibsagar) settled for runners-up.
In the girls’ category, Livana Yeptho (Niuland) defeated Sentiwala Imchen (Dimapur) to win the Under-13 title. Kimkim Khongsai (Dimapur) secured the Under-15 crown over Wangshirenla Imchen (Dimapur) and later added the Under-19 title by overcoming Noimikha Saikia (Sibsagar). Saikia, however, claimed the Under-17 championship defeating Neernita Bailung (Sibsagar).
Meanwhile, SBA extended gratitude to the NBA, sponsors, and all contributors for their support in ensuring the success of the tournament.
