Nagaland: Wokha Town Baptist Church holds sports evangelism

Wokha Town Baptist Church (WTBC) concluded its first-ever sports evangelism programme held from February 9 to 11, 2025 at the Public Ground, Wokha, with enthusiastic participation from 12 teams representing various colonies of the town.
The three-day event culminated on February 11 with an exciting display of sportsmanship.
In the women’s volleyball final, the combined team of Suren, Midland and New Colony defeated Blue Hill, Rachana, Tchuyiro and Chanka Colony 3–1 in a thrilling five-set encounter.
In the men’s football final, Etsutchukha Colony defeated GHS & Zuvotong Colony via penalty shootout after the match ended in stalemate.
A short closing ceremony-cum-fellowship programme was held after the finals, with executive secretary of LBCA, Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha,Vankhosung, delivering the exhortation.
In his message, he reminded the gathering that the primary objective of the programme was to foster discipline and Christian spirit through sports, drawing participants closer to God.
He noted that while games are often played for trophies, the greater victory lies in embracing discipline in Christ. Rev. Lotha congratulated the players, participants and organisers for the successful conduct of the tournament.
He further encouraged the youth to acquire skills and strive for professionalism, acknowledging the employment challenges in the state. He emphasised that determination and skill are essential for success, while reminding that nothing can be achieved without God.
The programme was inaugurated on February 9 by Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, who conveyed greetings and exhorted the congregation.
