Nagaland: Woman found deadin suspected suicide

A woman identified as Baghuni (50) was found dead in an apparent case of suicide at a BSNL residential quarter near the Main Post Office, Kohima, on Tuesday morning.
According to Soriso, PRO Kohima Police, the deceased, wife of BSNL staff Patek Basumatari, was discovered hanging by her elder son, Bilal (18), at around 7:25 a.m. Police informed that the husband was asleep in another room at the time of the incident. Upon being alerted by the son, the father informed neighbours before police personnel arrived at the site.
Police conducted all necessary formalities, and as the family declined post-mortem examination, the required legal procedures were completed. Kohima Police confirmed that no foul play was suspected and that the woman had died by suicide.
The family, originally from Charaili, Assam, has been residing in Kohima for over 30 years and belongs to the Boro (BodoKachari) community. The deceased was reported to be engaged in handloom and food-related business.Police further informed that the body is being taken to the family’s native village in Charaili, Assam, for the final rites.
