Nagaland: Workshop on Food Safety at Model Christian College

DIMAPUR

A one-day workshop on Food Safety Demonstration and awareness programme was conducted at Model Christian College (MCC) on February 7.
The programme was organised with an aim to create awareness about safe food practices and public health standards, with active participation from students, faculty members, and members from the department of Health and Family Welfare.
According to MCC, resource persons for the workshop included Kenyuni Himb (Food Technician) and Tito K. Achumi (Lab Attendent) from the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
The experts delivered informative sessions on important topics such as food contamination, food-borne diseases, proper food handling, storage techniques, food fortification and the importance of hygiene in food preparation.
The resource persons also explained the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Authoruty of India (FSSAI) and discussed the consequences of neglecting safety norms.
The workshop was inaugurated by vice-principal, MCC, who in his opening address highlighted the growing importance of food safety in everyday life and emphasized the role of educational institutions in promoting healthy and hygienic practices.
