Nagaland Wrestling Association wrestlers visit former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh

DIMAPUR, NOV 12 (NPN)

Two officials and 17 wrestlers from the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), currently undergoing a month-long coaching and training programme at the National Wrestling Academy, Nandini Nagar, Nawabganj, Uttar Pradesh, paid a visit to former MP and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, at his residence in Nawabganj on Tuesday. The team joined Singh and his family in celebrating his granddaughter’s birthday.
In a press release issued by NWA joint secretary Kuzhovesa Soho informed that during the interaction, Singh encouraged the trainees to remain dedicated, expressing hope that the training would bring immense benefits to Nagaland and beyond. His son, Uttar Pradesh MLA Prateek Bhushan Singh, urged the wrestlers to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and assured them of his support. He also promised to spend time with the team and occasionally provide Naga cuisine during their stay.
Karan Bhushan Singh, MP from Uttar Pradesh and elder son of Brij Bhushan, extended his best wishes to Team Nagaland for a fruitful training period at Nandini Nagar. NWA conveyed gratitude to the WFI family, particularly Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and his sons, for facilitating the opportunity to train at the academy. The association also acknowledged WFI president Sanjay Kumar Singh for approving NWA’s request, and appreciated the efforts of WFI assistant secretary Vinod Thomar and office assistant Maharwan for their role in completing the necessary formalities.
NWA noted that after more than a decade of limited association with WFI, renewed ties have been established under the federation’s leadership, paving the way for greater collaboration. The association expressed optimism for continued cooperation in the future. The NWA further appreciated the support of Mahender Singh, a close associate of Brij Bhushan, who has been coordinating logistics for the team since their departure from Nagaland on November 9. Appealing to the Nagaland state government, the NWA urged for greater promotion of youth development in sports, expressing hope that collective efforts could build a stronger foundation for young athletes in the state.
