Nagaland: Wrestling crowns champions on inaugural day of Piphema Khenu Rüzhü

KOHIMA, JAN 4 (NPN)

The 47th Piphema Khenu Rüzhü 2026 commenced on January 3 and will continue till January 8, with wrestling competitions held on the inaugural day of the six-day-long sports meet.
In the senior wrestling category, Ketouselie Chalieu emerged champion, while Viketouto Keyho secured the second position. Mezhiesilie Nakhro finished third, followed by Neikedoto Keyho in fourth place.
In the juniors (U-15) category, Rokochülie Nakhro clinched the championship title. Neitsivoto Kimho was adjudged second, while Nourheleto Kimho and Rokosezo Keyho secured the third and fourth positions respectively.
Wrestling marked the first sporting event of the festival. Football for men and volleyball for both men and women will be played during the remaining days of the sports meet as part of the ongoing meet. The inaugural of the meet was held with Angami Students’ Union president Diezevisie Nakhro attending as the chief guest.
